Design of a Novel Frequency-Coded Chipless RFID Tag

Chipless radio frequency identification (RFID) is a low-cost RFID solution that has the potential to replace traditional barcodes in short-range applications. In this paper, novel frequency-coded chipless tag designed at Ku-band (12.4-18 GHz). Compared previous designs, proposed more compact design by multiplexing one antenna for both transmitting and receiving purposes. addition, on substrate with ground plane, which reduces undesired effect of background detuning. To demonstrate performance tag, four 3-bit tags are simulation, having two them manufactured tested. Simulations measurements performed codes 000 111, results verify validity design. Finally, sensitivity response fabrication errors orientation discussed demonstrated simulations.
